Christmas Day 2007 – Part 2

Joshua arrived at 4.30pm and excitement ensued. Joshua discovered that Father Christmas had left him a pile of presents underneath the Christmas tree and so he started to unwrap them. Daniel and Emilie sat and watched very patiently, not that it took Josh long to tear the wrapping paper off his mountain of gifts.

By 5pm Daniel, Emilie and Joshua were running around like lunatics playing Power Rangers and The Fairy – Joshua had got a red power ranger suit and a power ranger game, Emilie didn’t want to be left out so she dressed up as a fairy and used a sword to defend herself against the power rangers.

This game soon came to an end when Joshua decided that he now wanted to do some of the jigsaws that Father Christmas had bought him. The evening was spent flitting from present to present with a few interruptions consisting of dinner and another present for all of us from Mummy (Alli).

Mummy (Alli) made us all sit down in the lounge as she had found a present that hadn’t been unwrapped and it was addressed to Tim, Daniel, Emilie and Joshua, when we opened it we found that Mummy (Alli) had treated us all to a wii and even Daddy (Tim) knew nothing about it.

Once the excitement of the wii had curtailed we carried on flitting from present to present and we spoke to both our Grandad’s and told them all about our Christmas Day.

At 10pm we were told it was time for bed and we didn’t argue as we were very tired by then!!

We had lovely Christmas Day made even better by the fact that we actually all got to see Joshua on Christmas Day – the first time this has ever happened!

Christmas Day 2007 – Part 1

Surprisingly we woke up early this morning but, to the relief of Mummy and Tim, not too early. Just as we woke up we heard Mummy saying “Tim I don’t think Father Christmas has been as there are no presents on the end of my bed.” We quickly checked the end of our beds and we were relieved to see that there was a pile of presents at the end of our beds. We got all the presents into Mummy and Tim’s bedroom and sat on the end of the bed and opened them.

Emilie then suggested to Mummy that her presents might have been too big for Father Christmas to leave on the end of her bed and that she should go downstairs and check to see if he had left them downstairs. Mummy thought this was a good idea so we all made our way downstairs and as soon as we got downstairs we noticed that the mince pie and carrot had been eaten and the beer and milk drunk – which could only mean one thing – Father Christmas had definitely been!!

We opened the lounge door and we were greeted with a sea of presents – it was brilliant! We spent over and an hour opening them all and we got lots of fantastic presents.
When we were finished Mummy asked Emilie to start taking some of her present up to her room so that we had space in the lounge to play with some of the other presents we had received, when Emilie got to her room she was surprised to find that an art desk had appeared in her room whilst we had been downstairs opening our presents – we hadn’t heard Father Christmas come back, he must have been very quiet.

Emilie was soon sat at her desk drawing, Daniel was learning how to become a rock star by playing on his new guitar which works on the x-box and Tim sat transforming his Optimus Prime Transformer whilst Mummy started cooking our Christmas Lunch.

Soon Mummy was calling us all to sit at the table so that we could eat our Christmas Lunch, we had a traditional lunch, which we had decided upon and asked Mummy to cook for us. Mummy had even got us some crackers and special champagne.

After lunch the playing and drawing resumed.

Tim has just gone to collect Joshua so that the present unwrapping fun can start again!!

Christmas Eve 2007

We had some visiting to do this morning as we needed to go and see Josie and Grandad & Pauline. We went to see Josie first and as usual we were no sooner in the door than the demands for lemonade and sweets were being made!

Whilst consuming lemonade and starbursts we told Josie what we hoped Father Christmas would be bringing us. Daniel wanted Lego, Emilie wanted dollies and Josh got the argos catalogue out and started pointing to all the toys he could find!

Next it was off to Grandad & Pauline’s here we were able to consume fruit shoots and lovely Belgian biscuits – perhaps this Christmas visiting isn’t too bad after all! We also managed to acquire Grandad’s latest railway magazine so that Josh could have some new pictures of trains on his bedroom wall.

Our excitement with regards to the imminent arrival of a certain man in a red suit increased steadily during the day and before long we were being told that it was time to have a bath and get ready for bed.

Once we were bathed we went downstairs and got the necessary drinks and snacks out for our night time visitors – Father Christmas was left a bottle of Stella and a mince pie and Rudolph was left carrot and a bowl of milk. We also remembered to put our special key out for Father Christmas, the key doesn’t work in the door unless you are Father Christmas, as we don’t have a chimney we have to let him get into the house some how.

Joshua phoned us and told us that he had left out a snack and drink for Father Christmas as well, as he wasn’t staying with us tonight.

Then it was time for bed – Mummy and Tim warned us that if we didn’t go to sleep quickly we might not get any presents as if we are awake when Father Christmas arrives he doesn’t leave anything!

Our fingers are crossed that Father Christmas comes and leaves us lots of presents!!!

A Christmas Visit

Yesterday afternoon, just before 2.30pm, Uncle Michael and Auntie Alison arrived – the time was important as at 2.30pm the Sale Sharks v Leicester Tigers rugby match was being shown on sky!

Uncle Michael installed himself on the sofa with the boxes of chocolates and he was soon joined by Daniel. We were all told by Uncle Michael that if we had any questions concerning the match we were to wait until half time to ask him and not disturb his viewing.

When the second half began Mummy (Alli) and Daddy (Tim) decided to take Emilie and Joshua to the park so that they could get some fresh air and a little bit of exercise. The park was great fun as the safe play surface had frozen and it was like being at the ice rink, it was even better because in the park there are hillocks to run up and down which we were soon all ski-ing down!

After a walk over to the duck pond, which was frozen as well, we went back home to see if Sale Sharks had won and therefore if Uncle Michael was in a good mood – they had won and he was!

Uncle Michael, Auntie Alison and Daniel then went out to the pub for a few quick drinks – Uncle Michael said that Daniel had had 5 pints whilst he was out but we think he was just trying to wind Daniel up.

We kept Uncle Michael and Auntie Alison entertained then with our predictions as to what Father Christmas would be bringing us and then it was time for bed.

On Christmas Eve morning we didn’t get chance to jump on Uncle Michael to wake him up as he woke up before us.

It was nice to see Uncle Michael and Auntie Alison again.

Emilie is a Star!

This afternoon Emilie was a star in her first school nativity. Mummy went to watch her and said that she did very well.

She has been singing snippets of songs around the house for weeks, but as soon as she realised that someone was listening she would stop, finally this afternoon Mummy got to her Emilie and the rest of the reception year sing the songs in full and she says that they sang them beautifully.

Emilie and the other 6 stars had a turn at being centre stage when they gave a rendition of twinkle twinkle little star complete with a little dance.

Emilie has also told us that she was very pleased that Mummy managed to get a seat on the front row as it meant that she could take lots of pictures of her – not that she is vain or anything.

Mummy says that it was lovely to watch Emilie in her first school nativity and that it even bought a little tear to her eye – she is a softy sometimes.

Sleepover

After the excitement of visiting Father Christmas we didn’t think there could be anymore excitement to be had but there was as we were going to have a sleepover with our friend Joe, from Malvern, as he was up visiting his Grandma.

The sleepover also gave Mummy (Alli) and Daddy (Tim) the chance to catch up with their friends Janet and Bill as they are Joe’s Mummy and Daddy and they were visiting Joe’s Grandma as well.

We had a brilliant time, when we arrived Carole (Joe’s Grandma) had set up an art station for Emilie, where she proceeded to draw and stick and cut and colour to her heart’s content.
The only time Emilie came away from the art station was to eat, play with some dollies for a bit, make Christmas tree decorations and to go to bed!

Joshua was entertained by the wooden railway track that Carole had got out ready for him and he also loved playing in the huge garden getting very muddy and dirty – just like children should! He loved riding round the garden on a little tricycle and just like Emilie his attention from all the activities was only diverted by food, Christmas tree decorations and bed (he didn’t want to go to bed – but he knows not to argue with the grown ups!)

Daniel and Joe kept each other entertained playing out in the garden for much of the time that we were there, they did go up to Eric’s (Joe’s Grandad) school as well and have a play in the huge sports hall with the rugby balls, footballs and basketballs! On Saturday evening the pair of them were allowed to stay up and watch Sale Sharks play rugby as they are both rugby fans. They were very vocal and did get quite giddy – but Sale did win so I guess they are allowed to!

Dan and Joe were despatched to bed around 9:30pm to give the adults some peace and quiet so that they could do some catching up, goodness only knows what time they all went to bed!

Sunday morning was more of the same – activities and eating – unfortunately we had to leave just after our lunch as Joe and his MUm had to go back home and it is quite a way to there house and we apparently had a surprise job to do at home!

We all had a brilliant sleepover – so a big thank you to Carole, Eric, Janet, Bill and Joe for keeping us all entertained!!

Surprise!

We have just finished doing the surprise that was used to tempt us away from our time with Joe – we have put up a Christmas tree outside our house!!

The tree is quite big, well it is compared to us and Mummy (Alli) and it has lots of lovely silver baubles and twinkling lights on it – we love it!!

Now all we need are a couple of light up reindeer and a few more “tasteful” outdoor decorations.

Winter Wonderland and a visit to see a VIP

This morning we were taken to Walton Gardens for a walk despite it pouring down with rain – when we pointed out the fact that it was raining to Mummy (Alli) she simply said “a little rain never hurt anyone, put your hoods up and the fresh air will do you good!” We have to say we weren’t particularly amused but we went along with it anyway.

Once in Walton Gardens we started walking towards the park as this is where we usually go but Mummy (Alli) and Daddy (Tim) told us we needed to go a different way today as the other way was blocked off. We turned a corner and Mummy (Alli) pointed out a court yard area that we hadn’t seen before and she said we should go and explore – so off we went!

When we got into the court yard we discovered that there was a little stall set up where we could paint our own Christmas Tree decorations so we decided that we would like to have a go at doing this, we chose to decorate the following:

Joshua – Crescent Moon
Emilie – Angel
Daniel – Father Christmas

It was very cold and we couldn’t really feel our fingers but we weren’t going to stop doing something exciting like this, there were lots of different colours of paint to choose from and to Emilie’s delight there was special paint that had glitter in it – needless to say we all had a go at using the glittery paint. As we finished our decorations Mummy (Alli) and Daddy (Tim) said we should go and take a look around a building that was on the other side of the court yard so off we went.

We opened a door and in front of us was a forest of Christmas trees, we walked through the Christmas trees and then found another door that we knocked on, a lady opened the door and asked us all to go in and said we could look the room that was decorated very nicely for Christmas – we noticed another door and asked if we could go through that door and she said “yes” so off we went.

We couldn’t believe our eyes when we opened the door, the room had an enormous Christmas tree in the corner and was full of toys and then we realised that sat very quietly in the corner waiting for us was:

Father Christmas or Farmer Christmas (as Emilie calls him!)

We were all speechless for a moment and then we started telling Father/Farmer Christmas what we would like for CHristmas – we told him:

Daniel – Lego
Emilie – Dollies
Joshua – Thomas the Tank Engine

It was brilliant talking to Father Christmas, he told us that his Elves were very busy getting all the presents ready for him to deliver on Christmas Eve and he asked us if we would leave him a mince pie and a carrot for Rudolph. He also reminded us that we need to be good if we want to get any presents because if we are naughty we will only get a lump of coal (whatever that is).

We had our photo taken with Father Christmas and then he gave us a packet of presents that the Elves had finished making. Well he gave Daniel & Josh presents but forget Emilie until she piped up “where’s my present” with her hands on her hips – what a madam! Fortunately for her Father Christmas thought this was very funny so he gave her a present as well!

We left Father Christmas then and when we went outside we saw his sleigh so we had our photo taken in the sleigh with Mummy (Alli) and then we went outside to see if we could see Rudolph anywhere – we couldn’t! Mummy (Alli) said he was probably running around the park getting fit ready for his big flight on Christmas Eve.

Seeing Father Christmas was brilliant – we can’t wait to see if we have been good enough for him to visit our house on Christmas Eve!!!

Christmas Decorations

This evening we have helped Mummy (Alli) and Daddy (Tim) decorate our house with lots and lots of Christmas decorations. We have decorations in every room downstairs even the kitchen!

We loved putting all the decorations on the big tree in the lounge, although Mummy (Alli) did point out that there weren’t many decorations at the top of the tree – we had to tell her that was because we can’t reach the tree.

Daniel set up the nativity scene, that used to be our Nana’s, but he had a small problem when doing this as he proclaimed “I can’t find Joseph.” Daddy (Tim) told him to check that he wasn’t standing the wise men – Daniel said that he had looked but couldn’t find him anywhere. Mummy said he might have gone to the pub! Upon further inspection Joseph was found to be lurking at the back of the stable!

Mary, Joseph, a shepherd, a couple of sheep and a cow are now waiting patiently in our lounge for the arrival of Jaby Besus (as Emilie said) and the wise men who are as we type travelling around our lounge!

Dore Update

DAniel had his check up at Dore again today – he is doing very well and they are hoping that he will soon be ready to discharge – which is a huge relief to Daniel as it will mean no more exercise sessions for him each morning and evening.

His eye tracking accuracy has improved in twelve weeks from 70% to 81% – if he can produce the same increase in another 12 weeks then he will be at the level of accuracy for a person without the problems he has!

Ooh – Aah

Remember remember the 10th of November gun powder, treason and plot!

Yes we know it should be the 5th of November but due to the fact that this fell on a week night we had to wait a few extra days for our fireworks – we weren’t at home the weekend before the 5th either – so we just decided we would annoy our neighbours tonight instead.

Since waking up this morning we have been asking when we can let the fireworks off, Mummy (Alli) and Daddy (Tim) told us it wouldn’t be until after dinner and then only if we ate all our dinner up – needless to say our pasta bakes were eaten in record time, unfortunately it was the longest time ever to eat pasta bake as Joshua isn’t very keen on those things called vegetables, he needed a lot of convincing to eat the red pepper and courgettes but we got there eventually.

Then it was time to wrap up warm and go into the garden and enjoy making patterns in the air with some sparklers, we really like sparklers which is handy really as we had 30, needless to say we didn’t get round to using them all so we have put some away for New years eve.

With the sparklers done we moved onto the main attraction of the night – very loud fireworks courtesy of Grandad, for some reason he had bought them along to Daddy’s (Tim’s) surprise party (Mummy (Alli) and Daddy’s (Tim’s) Wedding) in June but he was not allowed to set them off as there was no fire warden on duty – never mind it meant we had great fun tonight.

There was lots of oohing and aahing as the fireworks displayed their magic. Emilie and Josh loved shouting out what colours they could see as the fireworks exploded. We laughed a lot at the catherine wheels that Daddy (Tim) had nailed to the fence.

Before long the fireworks were all over for another November but at least we might get some more on New years eve.
