The Theatre of Dreams

Dan & I went to Old Trafford last night to watch Man Utd play Barnet – Dan’s treat for doing so well at school this half term.
The seats we had were excellent – we were sat right next to the Manager Dug Outs, we were on the wrong side though as we were next to the Barnet team!
Dan pointed out “I have seen that man on the tv” he meant Alex Ferguson – bless.
Unfortunately I forgot to take the camera with me as it was a mad rush to get out of the house and be in our seat for 8pm, so we have no photos from the event!
Dan was really excited about the match and took a lot more interest in the match rather than the stadium this time, and was asking me to explain why the referee was blowing his whistle; fortunately I didn’t have to explain the offside rule to him – but I would have been able to if he had asked – ask Tim!
The Barnet keeper was sent off after 2 minutes for handling the ball outside of his area – so they were down to 10 men for the rest of the match.
The goals were great and Dan was willing MU to get 5, they only managed 4 so he was a little disappointed.
We queued for half time treats that now consist of pepperami sticks & ribena for Dan and a kit kat chunky & ribena for me – what ever happened to the good old meat pie and bovril that my Dad used to buy me when we went to watch The Robins at Moss Lane!! Might have to take Dan there so that he can sample those delights and the delights of conference football – you never know he might get to make a trip to Wembly to watch them play in a cup final and have his photo taken & published in the SAM just like his dear old Mum & Auntie Jennifer!!!!!

PK3 sleeps in a bed!

The baby of the household (age not size!) took another development step last night – he slept in a proper bed!!!

PKP decided that PK3 was getting far too big for the travel cot and given that there was a bottom bunk with his name on it all ready and waiting, courtesy of Grandma, we thought we would grab the bull by the horns!

PKD tried (unsuccessfully) to put PK3 to bed – this resulted in some bursts of aggression from the little man so PKM stepped in – having been there and done this before and having watched numerous “Little Angels” programs!

PKM turned off the lights and put PK3 into bed and each time he got out he was simply lifted back into bed and covered with the duvet. PK3 only made 3 bids for freedom and he was foiled on every attempt – eventually he gave in.

So all that was left for us to do was to see what he did in the morning!!!

Well here we are in the morning and we can report that PK3 simply shouted “Daddy where are you ” when he woke up and stayed in his bed – what a good boy!!!!!

Daniel’s Improving Rugby

Daniel has now finally got a Warrington R.U.F.C Rugby kit which seems for some reason only known to him to have improved his rugbying ability.
He was grabbing lots of tags this week and came agonisingly close to scoring his first try too.
Unfortunately or should i say fortunately Alli missed lots of these with rather regular trips to the toilet with Emilie…

Swimming with the 3 pk’s

First time we’d had all the pk’s for a while so we took them off to Widnes Swimming Pool only to find that thew childrens pool was closed due to some renovation works so we had to go in the Adult pool.
This caused some right kerfuffle as you can imagine with PK1 and PK2 not happy at the thought, PK3 knew no better!!

Anyway it was fine in the end, PK1 enjoyed leaping in with us all watching whilst holding on to PK2 and PK3 who now had arm bands on. PK3 was very happy floating around unaided although had a tendancy to drink a bit of water from time to time…
PK2 was a bit wary and spent her time gripped to either me or Alli but was ok about it all so no real worries…
PK3 having had enough of watching PK1 jumping in the pool had a go himself and being his usual fearless self ran and leapt into the pool unaided several times laughing all the time he did it!!

Bless him, going to have to keep an eye on him… he thinks he’s a stuntman i’m sure….

Daniel makes his debut!

Today Uncle Michael and Grandad’s wish finally came true as Daniel started RUGBY training, in preparation for his debut in the World Cup in 2019.
The decision that he would start playing was finally made last week and as a result the anticipation and excitement increased over the course of the week. Grandad placed a call to the pk residence on Saturday evening at 6pm to check that Daniel was in bed resting ready for his big day!
Sunday morning arrived and off we all trouped to watch Daniel make his debut for Warrington R.U.F.C.
The debut was watched by Grandad, Pauline, Uncle Michael, Tim, Emilie and Mummy.
Mummy is ok watching him play at the moment but is certain that in a few years she will be cringing when he is being tackled!!

The Stereophonics

PKP (PK parents) had a rare night out on Friday to watch The Stereophonics play at The Manchester Evening News Arena.
PKP1 (Tim) purchased the tickets as a treat for PKP2 (Alli) knowing that she quite liked them and also quite liking them himself. It is rumoured that PKP2 once asked PKP1 to accompany her to watch them on a previous tour and he declined the invitation! But never mind we got there in the end.
The seats we had gave us a fantastic view of the stage however the downside was we had to climb right to the top of the arena, which if you have been you will know is rather scary.
The concert was fantastic and the band managed to play our favourite songs apart from one of Tim’s (T-Shirt Suntan) mind you he shouldn’t have 3 favourite songs then he wouldn’t be disappointed.
It was great for me to hear Kelly Jones singing the song that helped me through a rough patch in my life and I can safely say I’m alright (but I definitely had to go there to come back)

Happy 32nd Birthday Alli!!!

Well today was Alli’s 32nd birthday (i’m sure i’m not supposed to mention that but there you go) and as usual for birthdays in our house that meant being awoken by excitable children wanting to ‘assist’ in opening presents.
By assist i mean actually open them which is what they proceeded to do under Alli’s supervision! Fortunately there was nothing risque there so no hasty explantions were required!
Present’s included numerous gift vouchers, necklace, t-shirt and some massage items which despite Alli’s ideas were for her benefit not mine! Weekday birthdays are always inconvenient as its nice to go out for a meal etc but as we had PK1 and PK2 there was no chance so i arranged to cook/heat some dinner up followed by a nice relaxing sit down once Parents had gone home.

Summer Party

We had a fantastic day yesterday with our family and friends at our summer party – so a big THANK YOU to all of those that came to help us drink lots of alcohol and consume a fair amount of food.
I think we can safely say that everyone enjoyed themselves particularly those that partook of the bouncy castle – I am hapy to report that there were no serious injuries, not that there weren’t a few near misses (Ian – broken neck), or a number of friction burns to elbows!!
At some point in the afternoon a water fight was also instigated – I have to say “Thanks” to Courtney for helping me get Tim, although unfortunately for me Tim managed to get me good and proper, but I promise I will get my revenge.
We were even lucky enough to have a sunny afternoon, not bad after a week of near continuos rain.
Today is recovery day for Tim & I as yesterday was our third day of partying – and we are now starting to get a bit old, Tim is even in bed asleep now as I type this blog – god help him as he isn’t even 30 yet and needs to spend a day recovering!!!
Thanks once again to all those that attended – and we will see you at the next one!!

Sarah’s 31st!

We enjoyed a great evening at Sarah’s 31st birthday bash – although we are suffering for it now!!
I particularly enjoyed seeing Tim in a very fetching pink wig, however I was upset that I missed him dancing to “The Macarena” – fortunately for me Mig had it videoed on his phone.
We even had a man in uniform attend the gathering – Simon arrived at some point with his ambulance and we couldn’t pass up the photo opportunity!!!!

New Member of the Family

We are pleased to announce the arrival of Jake Andrew on 8th August, he is a very special baby as he has been given the family initials!
I will endeavour to make sure that I earn enough will points to gain the family registration plate currently owned by Grandad so that I can one day pass it on to Jake.

Chris & Sarah’s Wedding

What a great day had by all.
The day started with Alli being rather amusingly walked in on by a relative of mine (he knows who he is) which caused him so mickey taking and her some blushes but was all right in the end.
It really was quite weird seeing my brother getting married, not to dissimilar to the feeling when i watched my sister doing the same thing a year previous! Seriously though i’m glad that Chris & Sarah have got married, they are obviously very happy together.
A great day of feasting and drinking was had by all with everyone enjoying themselves immensely including Alli and Ellie who were as thick as thieves for the majority of the day.
Obviously we were the last ones standing at half one in the morning and after a drunken dip in the sea by Alli, Ellie and i we retired rather ungracefully to bed!! Or at least i made it to bed, Alli slept on the bathroom floor till 6:30am!!
Congratulations to the happy couple…
