We are pleased to announce that Auntie Alison & Uncle Michael have made a decision as to what to name our cousin (see above).
We can’t wait to meet Joseph in a couple of weeks.

….. well at the moment we are unable to tell you what the baby is called as Auntie Alison and Uncle Michael haven’t decided on a name yet.

Our new cousin was born at 3:17am this morning and weighed in at 6 1/2 pounds.
He is of the male variety and Mummy says that he looks like Grandad (poor little boy).

We can’t wait to meet him next weekend.

On yet another cold Sunday morning Mummy was once again on the sidelines of the rugby pitch watching Daniel playing in a match, this time Warrington were playing against Wilmslow.

Daddy (Tim), Emilie and Joshua had also come down to the club to watch the match but just as they made their way to the side line the heavens opened and it started to hailstone, the hailstones were hard and cold so Daddy (Tim), Emilie and Joshua retreated to the club house and then to the car so that they could go home and get warm.

Mummy weathered the storm and watched Daniel play a fantastic match, the two teams were very evenly matched but it wasn’t long before Daniel received the ball from kick off and streaked down to the wing to open the scoring for Warrington.

The match was a hard match and Wilmslow had some very big players, one of which took a shine to Daniel so much so that even when Daniel didn’t have the ball, as he had passed to another member of his team so that they could score a try, he tackled him and wouldn’t let go – it was a David and Goliath moment as Daniel’s temper took hold and he turned and pushed the rather large boy off him and told him to “get off me or else” – at which the large boy took it upon himself to start pushing Daniel about – fortunately the referee stepped in and substituted the Wilmslow player before Daniel managed to retaliate!

The boys looked freezing on the pitch and at half time we went on to give their legs and arms a rub to try and warm them up – this seemed to pay off for Daniel as once again he scored shortly after kick off with another superb run down the length of the pitch side-stepping like a superstar and really outplaying the Wilmslow boys.

The match ended as a draw, it was a very entertaining match and the boys are really starting to come into their own and play like a team – keep it up boys!

So two tries from this match puts Daniel 3-1 up in the 2008-09 Try Competition, much to the disgust of Uncle Michael!

Yesterday afternoon a very excited Emilie was taken to the Guide headquarters in Warrington so that she could attend her first Rainbow sleepover.

Emilie was very excited and kept asking all day how long it was before she was going, she was so excited she even woke up and started planning her day at 6:30am, which didn’t please the rest of us!

Mummy took Emilie, her sleeping bag, blanket, pillow, Rosie bear, wash bag and kit bag (you would be amazed as what is needed by one small girl for one night away from home) up to the Sleepover at 4pm.

It was very strange last night without her in the house and Josh made sure he told their swimming teacher that Emilie wasn’t their as she was on a sleepover. The boys made the most of the peace and quiet and sat on the sofa eating crisps and chocolate and drinking hot chocolate whilst they watched Kung Fu Panda.

This morning we then all got ready so that the boys could go to rugby (Dan has a match – see later for a match report) and Mummy went to collect Emilie. Emilie came home with more stuff than she went with as in the space of just 18 hours the Rainbows had managed to make 2 Christmas tree decorations, toffee apples, blueberry muffins and cheese stars, as well as eat supper and breakfast and apparently sleep as well!

Emilie had a brilliant time and can’t wait for next year’s sleepover!

This morning we sadly had to say goodbye to Grandad, Josh said goodbye yesterday morning, as he is going back home today after spending 3 weeks with us.

We have really enjoyed having Grandad staying with us, one of the highlights of his stay was watching him play football on the x-box against Daniel, Daddy (Tim) told us he thinks this is the first time that Grandad has ever played on a console, it was very funny.

Apparently one evening Grandad and Uncle Michael had a match and as they were so bad at it the game went to penalties and was eventually won by Uncle Michael 13-12!!!

Thanks for coming to visit us Grandad, we hope you will be back up North soon!

Dan & I left home this morning in glorious sunshine and made our way to Caldy Rugby Club on the Wirral Peninsula, we arrived at the club just after 10am and the sky was a lovely blue colour however it was very windy. Auntie Beverly had called us the previous evening and told us that we would need our hair nets at Caldy as it is very exposed – she wasn’t kidding.

Although it was sunshiny it was very cold and the wind really didn’t help, but the squad were soon warm once they got running around the pitch, unfortuantely after about 10 minutes of pre-match training the weather took a signifcant turn for the worse and the boys were then training in wind and torrential rain! Not to be deterred the boys continued to train even though they couldn’t feel their fingers!

Shortly before 11am the boys gathered together and then stood in silence for 2 minutes, with the wind and rain howling around them, to remember the war heroes!

Then it was time for the matches to start, both squads are large so there were enough players for 2 matches.

Dan made a very good start he really seems to have found some good form early on this season – he is not scared of taking on boys that are much bigger than him as he knows that the skill in tackling is mainly down to technique and no matter how big youa re you can’t run if someone has their arms locked around your legs!

Barely 5 minutes into the match and Dan managed to retreive the ball from a Caldy player at their try line and proceeded to run down the wing streaking ahead of all the players, including his team mates, ending with him placing the ball over the line for his first try of the season!

When the match finished Daniel was staright on the phone to tell Uncle Michael that he had scored and that they were now all square in this seasons try competition!

Well done Dan – keep on scoring!

Unfortunately today was the last day of our holiday but we still had fun today, when we woke up this morning Mummy had gone out for a job interview (she got the job – well done Mummy) so Tim and Grandad supervised our breakfast and getting ready. When Mummy got home Emilie was in her bedroom playing with Louise and Daniel was cleaning out the guinea pigs.

When Daniel had finished cleaning out the guinea pigs we went across to Sale to visit Auntie Nicola and Laurie. We haven’t seen them for a long time and Auntie Nicola’s tummy is now very big as her baby is due to arrive in December. We played with Laurie and his toys and we had a great time, Laurie is really cute and very talkative, he kept calling Daniel “Uncle Dan” because he is a big boy!

Whilst we were at Auntie Nicola’s our Uncle Michael arrived which was a surprise as we weren’t expecting him to come to Auntie Nicola’s. After the grown ups chatted for a little longer it was time for us to go and to our great excitement we were going to drive back home in the transit van that Uncle Michael had hired to do some furniture removal.

When we got home we ate our lunch and then we spent some quality time with our Uncle which involves jumping all over him and generally having a good time with him.

At 4pm our Daddy arrived to take us to his house for a few days, we have had a great half term and can’t wait for the next school holiday, bring on Christmas!!!

This morning the house was a little quieter than it has been for the past few days and Emilie even asked “Is Josh still asleep?” we had to remind her that he had gone back to his Mum’s house last night and this made her a little sad, but she soon cheered up when she remembered that today was the day that she was going to see High School Musical 3 at the cinema with Mummy, Auntie Jennifer, Amy, Courtney and Louise. Daniel had decided that he would rather stay at home with Grandad and go for a ride to the park and the shops.

Auntie Jennifer, Amy & Courtney arrived at 11am so we all had a few hours playing together before we went to the cinema, those few hours went by really slowly but eventually it was time to go and watch the film, we all sat and watched the film in silence (as we have not yet got the cd which will enable us to play each and every song over and over and over and over again until we know, or at least think we know,all the words) the film was brilliant and as always Troy and Chad were lovely!

There was a school assembly this morning in Dan’s bedroom – Em & Josh were members of the teaching staff and their teddies took on the parts of the children, some of whom had been good and had been given tickets. Daniel was a guest speaker for assembly – he was a guitar playing Berbatov, whose English is tremendous!

At 10am the Mummy Bus left our house for todays trip to Liverpool, where we were planning on going to Under Water Street but had to change our plans as when we arrived at 11am it was already full and as it was very very cold we didn’t want to queue up to go in for 2 or 3 hours, so Mummy (Alli) made an emergency call to Auntie Beverly and asked her what else there was that we could do in Liverpool and she suggested that we should go to the Liverpool Museum so as we had enjoyed ourselves at Manchester Museum yesterday we decided that this would be a good idea so we set off to the Museum and 20 minutes later we arrived with very cold hands, feet and noses which were soon forgotten about when we walked into the foyer of the Museum and saw a huge pterodactyl skeleton hanging from the ceiling.

Liverpool Museum also had lots of interesting things to look at but we all decided that the best parts of the day had been when we had been in the natural history section of the museum and got to actually touch the skulls of a giraffe, elephant and hippopotamus and we all held an elephant’s tooth that was so heavy it made Emilie’s knees bend and when we watched the leaf cutter ants carrying their bits of leaf along a very long piece of rope suspended from the ceiling to their nest.

We spent 4 hours looking at all the things in the museum and we really do have very full brains now, so much so that Josh & Emilie fell asleep in the car on the way home and when we got home they sat quietly reading and colouring until we went out to meet Daddy (Tim) at the Olive Press when he finished work so that we could all have a meal together before we had to sadly say “Goodbye” to Josh as he was going to his Mummy’s for the rest of the holidays, we hope he has a lot of fun for the next few days.

We had a brilliant time today at Manchester Museum with Mummy (Alli), Grandad David, Auntie Kimberly, Uncle Dave, Jessica and Jordan.

There were loads and loads of things to look at and we learnt lots of things including the fact that if you pick your nose too much you run the risk of picking your brains – Mummy (Alli) told us how the Mummies were made and she said that when a person was made into a Mummy their brain was removed through their nose!

We were all fascinated by the Mummies and we couldn’t believe that there were actual real people in the Mummies that we were looking at, Emilie was intrigued by the Mummy who still had her toe nails and teeth but was over 1 million years old and also pointed out to a gathering of people that one of the Mummies was a man because she could see that his willy had been wrapped up in a bandage.

We each had a favourite thing at the museum and these were:
Daniel – a display of Eagles of all varieties
Joshua – Stan the T-Rex who in his words “is maffis and is 14 steps long which is huge!”
Emilie – the tribal carvings depicting women with “big boobies” and men with “big willies” that really made her laugh when she saw them.

After 4 hours in the Museum our brains were full of new facts and we were very tired so we decided it was time to go home, Daniel asked if we were near Old Trafford as he wanted to show Grandad David where Manchester United played football. As we weren’t far away Mummy (Alli) said that we could drive past so of we went, when we got to the stadium we parked up in the car park and Mummy (Alli) asked us if we would like to go and have a look around the megastore we of course shouted “YES.”

We went in empty handed and all came out with an MUFC kit, including Josh who we believe has finally seen the light! We all chose a name and number to go on the back of our kits and surprisingly we all chose different kits, Emilie chose Red, Daniel chose White and Josh chose Blue. When we got home we got changed into our kits so that we could surprise Daddy (Tim) when he came in.

After dinner this evening we settled down to watch Labyrinth with Grandad David and Mummy (Alli), unfortunately Daddy (Tim) had to finish some work off so he missed the film, but he has seen it before so it didn’t matter to much!

The first official day of the holidays and what do we do? We go and get new school shoes, not very exciting but required and it meant that we could also go into the art and craft shop and choose some nice things to make and do over the holidays,

Josh chose some Thomas the Tank Engine Shrinkies and a pirate boat to build, Emilie chose some beads and Daniel chose a lion paint by numbers and an Egyptian plaster cast set and Mummy (Alli) chose a wooden model of an apache helicopter for Daddy (Tim).

After choosing all our arts and crafts we took Grandad David to sample the delights of The Jungle Gym where we ran around like lunatics for 90 minutes only returning to check that Mummy (Alli) and Grandad David were where we had left them when we wanted a drink!

Our afternoon was spent making and doing all our new craft activities, we had lots of fun and made lots of mess, which we didn’t really enjoy tidying up but it is a necessary evil!

Once dinner was done and out of the way we all settled down, along with Bethany who was sleeping over, to watch The Neverending Story which Joshua has been telling us about for a few weeks, we all enjoyed the film apart from when the horse sinks in the mud and dies, this made Daniel cry (bless him!)

Today was destined to be a very busy day. Daniel was going to rugby training, Emilie was going to watch HSM3 with Louise and Josh was going to a birthday party – by 9am though a couple of things had changed. Daniel’s rugby training was off as the pitches were waterlogged, Emilie’s trip to the cinema was off as she had caught Josh’s tummy bug but Josh was still ok for the party, which meant that a poorly Daddy (Tim), another tummy bug victim, had to take him.

Dan decided to make the most of no training and the sunny day that Sunday turned out to be and he spent the day riding around on his bike with Bethany we only saw him at dinner time this evening, he didn’t come home for lunch as he had it at Bethany’s.

Emilie was a bit disappointed that she couldn’t go to the cinema but Grandad soon placated her by reading some stories with her and then Mummy found a tea party set that she could decorate with paints and a collage kit, this kept her entertained for hours.

Josh had lots of fun at the party and he had lots of tomato sauce to eat with his chicken nuggets, he came back with lots of things to colour in, which he then proceeded to do for the remainder of Sunday afternoon, we are snowed under now with coloured in pictures as Josh and Emilie are churning out on average 5 each a day, we think we might start selling them!

Daddy (Tim) was tired when he came back from chaperoning Josh to the party and so he went to bed for a rest and listened to the “Mighty Spurs” get their first win of the season, which helped to cheer him up a little bit and speed up his recovery.

Grandad David carried on with some DIY and Mummy did the ironing – so they didn’t really have a very exciting Sunday but the rest of
us did!!
