Harry meets his Grandparents, Uncle & Cousin!

In the week our mad Uncle Jerry was 40 and Auntie Alex had arranged a surprise birthday meal for him this evening, which Mum & Dad decided they would attend.

The surprise was being held down in Kent where Auntie Alex, Uncle Jerry & Finley live.  This also happens to be the place that Nana, Grandad Mark, Uncle Chris & Kimberly live which meant that Harry, who was accompanying Mum & Dad, would finally get to meet more of our family.

Nana had been trying to come up & visit us since Harry arrived but each time a weekend was arranged Mother Nature got in the way.

Nana, Grandad & Uncle Chris couldn’t get over the size of Harry when they saw him, he is actually weighs more than our cousin Kimberly who is 1 year older than him.  Nana couldn’t cuddle Harry for long as she hadn’t done any weight training recently!!

Harry made himself comfortable in Nana & Grandad’s lounge and watched our cousins Finley & Kimberly fighting over his Sophie le Giraffe!

Harry was very well behaved during his stay, he went to bed at 7pm as he ususally does and went straight to sleep & he only woke up in the morning when his stomach started to rumble for breakfast, which amazingly was after Finley & Kimberly woke up.

Sadly the trip to Kent was a very short one but we will all hopefully be down there again in the Summer!!

Emilie’s 8th Birthday

Today is Emilie’s 8th Birthday – Happy Birthday Emilie!

It isn’t Mum & Dad’s weekend to have Emilie but there is an arrangement in place between Mum & Emilie’s Dad that they both see her on her birthday, as Emilie’s birthday is a Saturday this year she decided that she would stay at our house on Friday night so that she could wake up with Mum on her birthday.

When Emilie woke up, which was after Harry had woken up & had his breakfast, she went into Mum & Dad’s room where there was a pile of presents waiting for her.

Emilie set about opening presents & cards, as usual she was a very lucky girl and got lots of lovely presents from people as well as money in cards.  Emilie then had her birthday breakfast of Fairy Toast (eggy bread for those not in the know) & then she played with her presents.

There was a surprise for Emilie (and Mum & Dad) mid-morning when Grandad & Pauline arrived to bring her some more birthday presents & Pauline had baked one of her lovely birthday cakes!

At lunch time Mum took Emilie to her Dad’s to enjoy the rest of her birthday.

Party Time!

As you will know last weekend was Josh’s 7th Birthday & so this weekend it was Party Time!

Josh had decided that he would like a football & pizza party so Dad obliged.  On Saturday morning Josh & Dad went to Wrexham to collect 2 of Josh’s school friends who had been invited to come to the party & to stay for a sleepover on the Saturday night.

Whilst Dad & Josh were out we helped Mum pack up football party bags and Mum decorated the cake she had made for Josh.  Breaking away from her comfort zone of a decorated round sponge Mum had decided to make a half football, it was harder than Mum anticipated – but it looked good when she had finished.

When Dad & Josh arrived home with Josh’s friends we set about packing the cars up for the short drive to the leisure centre.  Dad had really gone to town and had bought all manner of football paraphenalia.

The party started with a warm up in the football hall and then it was time for sides to be selected; each side had the handicap of a girl playing just to make it fair.  Dad was referee and his decision was final – he made it perfectly clear from the start that there was to be no arguing with the referee!

We all played football for an hour and we were all very sweaty & exhausted when thankfully Mum announced that it was time for pizza, Dad had ordered in Dominos for us – yum yum.

After devouring pizza, crisps and cakes it was time for a game of pass the parcel, which we all enjoyed playing not least because we all got more chocolate each time a layer of paper was taken off the parcel.

Before we knew it parents were arriving to collect the party attendees & that was it another party over for another year.

We went home and Josh opened his presents from the party with the assistance of his friends from school.  Once this was done the 3 of them went outside to play more football.

In the evening we watched a film & eventually went to bed, with the usual warning of “if we hear any noise you will all sleep in separate rooms!”  We were very good and went to sleep straight away because we were all exhausted.

Next morning we got up & had our breakfast, one of Josh’s friends didn’t know how to get his own bowl of cereal as his Mum usually does it for him, so we showed him what to do.

With breakfast eaten it was then time for the boys (excluding Harry) to go to rugby training.  Josh’s friends went to watch him train & then Josh, Dan & Dad took Josh’s friends back to Wrexham.

All in all it was another successful party!

Happy 7th Birthday Josh

Today is Josh’s 7th birthday and unfortunately this weekend isn’t one he’s spending with us; he’s at his mums. Its actually quite rare that his birthday falls on a weekend, this is the first time it’s occurred actually. Usually on his birthday I pick him up from school and take him out for a treat and some tea. In the past couple of years for example we’ve been bowling a couple of times and played football in the park till it got dark. Then we’d go and have some tea somewhere, Pizza Express and Nandos being regular haunts.

This year was a little different however as his birthday fell on a weekend so as i get to see him for a few hours I asked him in advance what he wanted to do that day. His answer was to go swimming at the local swimming pool because he said his mum doesn’t take him! Well not one to refuse such a straight forward request that was exactly what we did, Alli, Harry and I picked Josh up at 9.30 and went straight to the swimming pool. It was a first visit swimming for our water baby to a swimming pool, something that Josh was pleased to be part of. Unfortunately the pool was open but only the main one, the baby pool, jacuzzi and all important water slide weren’t open because they were being refurbished over the Christmas period and were running late on competition.

Fortunately Josh wasn’t too put off and it turned out they had sectioned off a 1m deep section of the main pool and it wasn’t too cold so we all had a good time watching Harry kicking around in the water for 45 mins before getting tired and playing chase with Alli and I taking it in turns looking after the water baby.

Alli then took Harry to get changed whilst Josh and I played catch, chased each other around the pool and generally throwing him in the water which he loves!

We eventually got out and got changed and had a short walk into town where we went for a hot chocolate at Cafe Nero! Some of us (Josh) had a huge slice of double chocolate fudge cake to go with it because he was hungry!

Unfortunately it was nearing time to take him back to his mum’s (I only get 3 hours) so we walked back to the car and stopped at WH Smith on the way to get him a comic!

A brief birthday day out, Josh’s birthday with us will be next friday when he’ll get all his presents from us and the main party event is on the Saturday; this year’s party choice is a football one.
