The Surprise Birthday Party a.k.a. Our Wedding Reception!!!
At 6pm the Wedding Party changed back from their day clothes into their wedding clothes in preparation for the big surprise! We left the house at 6:45pm and en route Tim made a phone call to Carole, our insider, to let her know that we were on our way to the hotel to surprise everyone.
We arrived at the hotel just after 7pm where we were greeted by the hotel staff, who were also in on the surprise. We waited nervously outside the room whilst a member of the hotel staff went into the room to give the nod to the DJ to start playing the music and that is when we made our grand entrance to the sound of wedding bells!!
I have to say the looks on people faces were priceless and I donâ??t think Tim and I will ever forget the looks of surprise and hugs of congratulations we received from family and friends â?? it was brilliant and it all went as well as we could have possibly have hoped for.
Once the initial shock had wore Tim made a little speech explaining to everyone that we had got married earlier in the day and that they werenâ??t at his surprise birthday party but at our surprise wedding reception and that he had been in on the surprise from the start.
After some chit chat with guests, a toast by Gez, gift giving to our witnesses and the 3pk, and the cutting of the Pingu wedding cake with a huge sword Tim and I made our way onto the dance floor for our first dance which was U2 Original of the Species â?? we were completely overshadowed by Emilie and Joshua who also took to the dance floor!!!
Then it was really time for the party to start â?? we had a wonderful evening which was filled with fun, friendship and alcohol (Timâ??s drinks were spiked by certain members of the family). My Dad must have consumed a fair amount of alcohol as well as he was spotted on the dance floor dancing on more than one occasion! However, the prize for best dance of the night has to go to Martin and Ellie for there beautiful dancing to â??Iâ??ve had the time of my lifeâ? from Dirty Dancing â?? it was a sight to behold.
At some point in the evening, around midnight, Emilie and Joshua retired to some chairs at the back of the room and at 2:30am the family made their way to bed after a fantastic day!
Thank you to all our family and friends that came to the party and sorry that some of you couldnâ??t make it.
Thank you as well to our family and friends that have sent us cards and gifts!
